In 1984, Abra opened its first repair facility in Fridley, Minnesota. The first location featured modern high-tech equipment, a highly trained staff, and a clean, customer friendly environment. From that first day, Abra's team set out to provide quality repairs and superior customer service.
Abra's approach to business quickly earned the support of vehicle owners and major insurance companies. This near-instant validation of Abra's business model led to the opening of a second facility only eight months after the first shop opened.
Abra originally was an acronym for Auto Body Refinishers of America, but we called ourselves ABRA Auto Body. In 1989, we added the auto glass operation and became ABRA Auto Body & Glass.
By 1992, Abra continued to add auto body repair services. Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) offered consumers a viable alternative for low-cost repairs involving dings or dents commonly known as “parking lot rash.”
